About Me

I am a New York transplant to Seattle. Being close to the mountains drew me to Seattle but it is my family and community that keep me here. My soul is nurtured by my spiritual and psychoanalytic community. My body is nurtured by all the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us and allows me to be active in the outdoors.

Experience with Clinical Psychology and Psychoanalysis

I have been a clinical psychologist in private practice for more than 25 years. I have spent the past 15 years specializing in psychoanalysis with adults of all ages, gender, and sexual orientations addressing a host of needs and difficulties.

As a clinical psychologist, I have knowledge of the diverse psychological theories of development and psychopathology and I have learned a variety of treatment modalities. This means that I bring a deep and wide foundation to my work which I believe makes it easier for you to have confidence in my abilities and trust in me to understand you on both broad and specific levels.

Ten years after receiving my doctorate in clinical psychology, I expanded my credentials with intensified training in contemporary psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis provides a relationship between you and the analyst which allows in-depth understanding, knowledge, and recognition of yourself and your ways of interacting in the world. This level of recognition in dialogue with another provides insight and transformation. As an analyst I had to undergo the most intensive training that a psychotherapist can attain. This included a personal analysis, conducting psychoanalysis under supervision, and four years of coursework on psychoanalytic theories and practice.

Leadership and Community Involvement

In addition to being a clinician, I am a teacher, supervisor, and writer. I have held positions of leadership in organizations that support psychologists and train therapists to become psychoanalysts. Since my undergraduate education, I have been dedicated to teaching others the enormous breadth and depth of psychology and psychoanalysis, and the place it holds in transforming the individual, family, and ultimately society. In classrooms, in small consultation groups, and at conferences I have reached out to the community to share my expertise and to learn from others.
